LIU and AUB.
So okay, we went to the AUB and we saw how fancy it is. Was it really fancy or that was just our pre-assumed perspective of it? No one can ever deny how important this university is! However, I hate it when other universities and other students look down at themselves when they are compared with the students of the American University of Beirut. As an English teacher pursuing her TD program, I felt like I was part of the knowledge presented there. I went there maybe expecting to see something unusual yet the topics flashed immediately in my mind. I was capable of analyzing and lecturing sometimes the lecturer about his poster. I admit that the jobs they did were special and took a lot of time but nothing was exceptional. The main reason wasn't because I knew these topics based on a personal effort. My dedicated instructors had taught me this and we even did similar researches concerning the topics. Our university is not less then the AUB. You can tell that from even our accents and fluency that outperformed their students. It is just a matter of "Reputation".
Yes it is really a matter of reputation! Just as when you hear about a new restaurant or a shop newly opened and you go visit it! I agree with you that my visit there didn't match my high expectations! I expected to see an outstanding work, but it turned out that the topics discussed were not new, their students were not fluent enough and their posters weren't grabbing enough considering their designs. When i left, i felt really proud of myself, my university, the knowledge i've acquired there, and of my inspirational instructors. It turned out to me that LIU'rs are knowledgeable, professional and creative enough to go and conquer the world of education :) !
ReplyDeleteReally we enjoyed alot going to AUB. We all were interested and took new ideas from those who presented the thesis, how it is a bit difficult to make a big research especially to choose a topic which is a problem under study and still not solved. Indeed, we really enjoyed mostly when going to such nice restaurant and later going to (RAUSHI)

ReplyDeletethe ego in our society is what making such a university an ideal for most of people and they would love to learn in it and even put their children in it. however AUB is one of the oldest universities in Lebanon with an oldest experience and that thing we can't deny it whatever our university is good.
