Runaway Bride!

Although "Runaway Bride" is a title of a movie, it explains many cases of nowadays brides. Of course, summer is a season of weddings in Lebanon. You would probably go to at least five weddings in these three months and you would really feel glad when seeing the joy of the bride and the groom. Sometimes, I look deeply and see that some brides are dancing, smiling, and even welcoming visitors in a way that shows their glee. However, the only thing going around their minds "What am I doing her! I need to run away!" The only difference between those brides and "Julia Roberts"
is the ability to take a decision. Girls tend to get married just as a way of adhering to the traditions valued by their society. As happy as they seem to be in their weddings, you can precisely capture the difference and the regret one month later. All a girl can do in this society is to finally get married whether she became a bank accountant or an executive director. There is nothing wrong in getting married but only when we do it because we want to and not because our society wants to!

  1. I am against the idea of running away from marriage. Why the bride has to runaway if she selects her life partner with whom she can share interests and who will encourage her independence. As with any relationship, friendship is the key. Good communication from the beginning will help ensure that yours is a lasting, loving partnership. If the girl doesn't have a say in choosing her husband then for sure she has to runway but nowadays I think the traditional marriage is gradually disappearing and girls are giving the full freedom to decide about their partners.

  3. I'm with you dear friend, there are lots of brides who fake it until they make it!! In many wedding occasions he brides themselves, their families and the close people over there, fake their smiles and happiness as if the wedding is nontraditional one! But unfortunately it turns out that many of the brides are there just because their mom and dad wants them to be. In this case i strongly encourage the bride "to run away!"

  4. i'm totally with you Shaikha and that is whats happening in our society and these are bad thoughts and acts towards marriage. part of the responsibilities lie on the society and other on parents they must give some free space to any one before he get married to think and live his life.

  5. Girls and boys should have the freedom to decide with whom to live their lives we should be free from old traditions and creating an atmosphere of understanding between the two before getting married is essential
