A male or A Female Teacher !
The issue of whether students learn better when taught by a female or a male teacher has been always an interesting case to study. The question here lies in the relationship between the gender of the teacher and the amount of learning taking place. Do we learn better when taught by a female teacher in a comfortable atmosphere or do we learn more with male teachers based on an old assumption of a higher ability within males? where do you feel you can learn better? In a small research conducted by "ME", I was able of exploring the preferences of students which affects their learning indirectly and sometimes directly. For instance, I have found that some students wouldn't take a certain course because it is taught by a female teacher. It is surprising that girls usually feel that male teachers are more credible and endure reliable sources of information. Both genders usually prefer male teachers when they are at an advanced level of education. They wouldn't take the knowledge offered because of a certain teacher's gender. I believe that we implement this culture within our students by looking down at female teachers especially in topics that require logic. However, it goes back to the teacher and his personality whether he enhances this belief or not.

Actually whether the teacher is a male or female doesn't really matter since what we seek for is the methods and techniques used by the teacher in order to make things well understood. I don't think that gender really makes a difference, but most schools tend to give younger grades to female teachers thinking that female teachers provide the proper atmosphere for students and ecourage them to learn, since this teacher resembles the character of a "MOTHER".
ReplyDeleteI think that it does not depend on what sex but on what different things are comfortable to students. We could have a female teacher that does not have any patience but is very nice or a male teacher with lots of patience but is not nice at all. If both teach the same material, why would one gender be better than the other at it? For myself I have had great male and female teachers, as well as bad male and female teachers. It does not matter what the teacher's gender is, both genders can make excellent teachers. It's unfair to say in general that women are better teachers than men because it depends on each individual not the sex as a whole.
ReplyDeletei liked this picture above very much .It represents the this female who tell those kids a story with much of care and love.Do you think a male teacher teaches kgs in the same way the female teacher does.I don't think so and to prove this ,i don't know a kgs male teacher till now.The female teacher have a magic thing that the male hasn't it ;)
ReplyDeleteMaybe because our culture think that a "teacher" is a job for females we are obsessesd by this idea. But this is not the reality, a teacher is profession for both males and females equally. Maybe a female teacher can be more effective in teaching certain subjects and vice versa concerning males. But we can't say that being a teacher is limited by females ones. There are and were many successful male teachers that left a foot print.
